TRACK NETS ONE AUTOMATIC QUALIFIER AND NINE PROVISIONALS IN CNU’S LID-LIFTER MEET

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s track team scored one automatic qualifier and nine provisional qualifiers in this past weekend’s Lid-Lifter track meet held in the Freeman Center.

Steven Roberts automatically qualified for Nationals for triple jump with his mark of 49 feet 2 inches.

Provisional qualifiers include Stephanie Andrews in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.93 as well as the 60-meter dash Division 3 with a time of 7.83. LaNeatra Johnson had three provisionals, one in the 60-meter hurdles where she ran a 9.15 another in the other in the long jump where she had a mark of 18 feet two and one half inches, and the third came in the triple jump where she had a mark of 38 feet. Marilyn Cochran ran a 59.28 in the 400-meter dash. Damon Talley posted a long jump mark of 23 feet seven inches to earn a provisional. Matt Mertz triple jump of 46 feet five and one half inches earned him a provisional.

CNU also had one relay team earn a provisional. The women’s 4X400 meter relay team finished with a time of 3:59.34.

CNU’s next track meet is January 5 in the East Coast Invitational held in Richmond, VA
