SOFTBALL UPS RECORD TO 6-0 WITH SWEEP OF MARY WASHINGTON

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s softball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a two-game sweep of Mary Washington Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Captains won game one 9-1 in six innings. CNU scored five in the third, capped by Dallas Slosjarik’s three-run triple. Susan Ishman finished 3-for-4 and Andrea Rhode went 3-for-3. Nicole Gray went 2-for-4 and C.J. McQueen finished 2-for-3. Michelle Kass went the distance allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven.

In game two, the Lady Captains held on for an 8-4 win. Ishman, Vanessa Gray, Lauren Baton and Nicole Gray went 2-for-4. Rhode finished 2-for-3. Vanessa Gray picked up her third win of the season pitching seven complete, six hits and four unearned runs while striking out four.

The Lady Captains return to action this Friday as they play Huntington at 9 am and Moravian at 1 pm in the VA Wesleyan Tournament.
