SOFTBALL SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER WITH TOP RANKED SALISBURY

 

SALISBURY, MD – CNU’s softball team split a double header with number one ranked Salisbury Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Sea Gulls won the first game 3-0.  Nicole Gray had the Lady Captains lone hit as Michelle Kass (4-2) suffered the loss.

CNU came back and took the nightcap 4-3.  The Lady Captains were up 4-0 when Salisbury scored twice in the fifth and one more in the seventh.  Vanessa Gray pitched a complete game for her sixth win of the year.  The loss was also Salisbury’s first of the season. 

In the first inning, Nicole Gray doubled and Vanessa smacked a two-run home run to give CNU a 2-0 lead.  Susan Ishman then increased the Lady Captains lead to 3-0 when she led off the top of the second with a solo home run.  CNU would add one more in the fourth when Dallas Slosjarik doubled home C.J.McQueen.

Slosjarik and Nicole Gray went 2-for-4.  McQueen went 2-for-3 and Vanessa Gray finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.  Ishman finished 1-for-3.  Vanessa Gray pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, three unearned runs while walking none and striking out three.

CNU is now 10-2 and returns to action Wednesday as they host Wilkes with first pitch set for 2 pm.
