SOFTBALL TEAM DROPS 1-0 DECISION TO SALISBURY, PLAY TO A 3-3 TIE IN THE SECOND GAME

 

NEWPORT NEWS, VACNU’s softball team dropped a 1-0 decision in eight innings in game one and then played to a 3-3 tie in the night cap.

In game one, Michelle Kass went eight innings and gave up her first run in 34 2/3 innings in the 1-0 extra inning loss.  Kass gave up two hits, walked none and struck out five.  She is now 3-1.

Dallas Slosjarik went 2-for-4 and Vanessa Gray went 2-for-3 for the Lady Captains.

In game two, the teams played to a tie due to darkness.

Leading 3-2 in the sixth, Jen Harrell tied it on a solo home run.  Harrell led CNU going 2-for-3 with a RBI.  Rachel Doyle was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Vanessa Gray went seven innings allowing eight hits, walking none and striking out seven.  She is now 1-2-1.

The Lady Captains are now 4-3-1 overall and return to action this Saturday on the road at Shenandoah with first pitch set for 1 pm.
