SOFTBALL TAKES TWO ON FIRST DAY OF SALISBURY TOURNAMENT

 

SALISBURY, MD – CNU’s softball team won both its games on day one of the Salisbury Tournament defeating Mary Washington 10-2 and Elizabethtown 4-2.

Against Mary Washington, the Lady Captains clubbed out 14 hits to MWC’s seven.  Dallas Slosjarik led the way going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the third and Andrea Rhode went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in the seventh.  Lauren Batson went 2-for-5, Vanessa Gray was 2-for-4, Susan Ishman was 2-for-3 with a double and C.J. McQueen was 2-for-3.  Michelle Kass picked up her fifth win of the year on the mound.

Against Elizabethtown, CNU had just four hits while the Lady Blue Jays had eight hits.  Vanessa Gray picked up her seventh win of the year.  Renee Sigafoos provided the offense for the Lady Captains going 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in the sixth.  Batson provided the defensive support by robbing an Elizabethtown player of a home run as she snared a fly ball by jumping the wall for the catch preserving the game for CNU with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.

CNU is now 12-2 and returns to action tomorrow on day two of the Salisbury Tournament as they play Rutgers-Camden at 10 am and York (PA) at 12 pm.
