SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM SHENANDOAH, 8-0 AND 4-0

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s softball team won its second and third straight game Thursday afternoon sweeping a doubleheader from Shenandoah, 8-0 and 4-0 at Destany Field.

CNU won the opener, 8-0, as Vanessa Gray pitched the complete game two-hitter.

In the nightcap, freshman Barbara Rose also allowed just two hits as CNU prevailed, 4-0.

The Lady Captains were led by senior shortstop Stacey Hundley, who had four singles and scored three runs in the doubleheader.

Christopher Newport improved to 10-5 overall with the wins, and 4-0 in Dixie play. Shenandoah falls to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Lady Captains return to action tomorrow at Averett beginning at 2:30 pm.
