SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH METHODIST
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The softball team split a doubleheader with Dixie-leader Methodist, dropping a tough, 5-4, opener but winning the nightcap, 3-0.
In the first game CNU had a 3-1 lead entering the sixth. Methodist scored twice in the inning to tie it, CNU went up 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Monarchs scored twice in the seventh to take the victory.
For CNU Nicole Slosjarik was 3-4, Jenise Wade 2-3 and Jen Harrell homered and had three RBIs.
In the second game the Lady Captains built a 3-1 lead after three and rode the four-hit pitching of Vanessa Gray to the win. Renee Sigafoos homered and drove in all three CNU runs.
The lady Captains are now 12-5 and 3-1 in Dixie play. Methodist is 13-7 and 5-1.
CNU hosts Randolph-Macon Tuesday.
