SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLE HEADER FROM PEACE

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s softball team defeated Peace 5-0 and 9-0 Sunday afternoon at Destany Park.

In game one, the Lady Captains scored one in the first, one in the third and three in the bottom of the sixth en route to the win.

Lauren Batson was 2-for-3, Tammi Perok was 1-for-2 with a RBI, and Jen Harrell, Jenny Harrison, Rachel Doyle and Cynthia McQueen each had one hit.

Vanessa Gray went the distance allowing one hit and striking out eight.

In game two, Harrell went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs. Harrell hit a two-run home run in the first and a three-run home run in the second. Gray was 2-for-2 and Batson, Perok, Dallas Slosjarik, Susan Ishman, and Lindsay Nicolio added one hit a piece.

Michelle Kass picked up her six with of the season throwing a no-hitter while striking out seven.
