SOFTBALL SWEEPS CHOWAN

 

MURFREESBORO, NCCNU’s softball team swept a double header from Chowan Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, the Lady Captains won 12-8.  CNU clubbed 17 hits and were led by Lauren Batson who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Dallas Slosjarik was 3-for-5 and Andrea Rhode was also 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.  Vanessa Gray was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Renee Sigafoos was 2-for-5.  Nicole Gray finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Michelle Kass went the distance allowing 10 hits, eight runs, five earned, while walking none and striking out five to improve to 8-4.

In the nightcap, the Lady Captains pitched a shutout 7-0.  Vanessa Gray went five innings, allowed just five hits, walked none and struck out five and is now 11-0 on the year.

Susan Ishman finished 3-for-3 and Nicole Gray went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.  Slosjarik finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

CNU is now 20-4 overall and 7-1 in the USA South. 

The Lady Captains return to action this Saturday as they host NC Wesleyan with first pitch set for 2 pm.
