SOFTBALL BLANKS CHOWAN TWICE, 6-0 AND 8-0

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The softball team shutout Chowan twice Wednesday, 6-0 and 8-0, running its winning streak to 11 games. Over the course of the streak the Lady Captains have outscored their opponents, 104-1.

In game one Donna Cerami improved her record to 12-2 with a four-hitter. She struck out nine. Tammi Perok was 2-4 and Jennifer Nowacki 2-2.

In game two the Lady Captains won behind the one-hit pitching of Vanessa Gray who is now 10-2. Stacey Hundley was 2-2 with a double, Jen Harrell was 2-3, Renee Sigafoos had a two-run homer in the second and Nowacki went 3-3 including a solo homer in the second.

CNU is now 22-5 and Chowan 8-14. The Lady Captains visit Mary Washington Saturday.
