SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLE HEADER FROM MAINE-PRESQUE ISLE

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s softball team swept a double header from Maine at Presque Isle Tuesday afternoon at Destany Park.

The Lady Captains defeated the University of Maine-Presque Isle by scores of 10-0 and 11-0. Both games were shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Dallas Slosjarik smacked a two-run home run in the opener, and Michelle Kass threw a one-hitter and struck out eight to improve to 9-1 on the year.

In the nightcap, Vanessa Gray threw a perfect game for CNU. Gray faced just 15 batters and struck out eight. Gray is now 7-2 on the year. Gray also had a big day at the plate, going three for three with two singles and a triple and two RBI's.

CNU is now 16-3-1 on the year and the Lady Captains have won 12 straight games. UMPI falls to 0-4 on the year.

Christopher Newport hosts Methodist Thursday in a Dixie Conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 pm.
