SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLE HEADER FROM
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU’s softball team returned to action after a week off due to weather and swept a double header from Greensboro Sunday afternoon at Destany Park.
The Lady Captains won game one 6-1. CNU scored two runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth inning.
The Lady Captains were led by Renee Sigafoos who went 2-for-2 with a RBI and Jen Harrell went 2-for-3. The big blow came off the bat of Dallas Slosjarik who hit a 3-run triple in the fifth inning.
Tammi Perok, Rachel Doyle, Andrea Thorson and Cynthia McQueen each had one hit.
Michelle Kass went the distance picking up her 13th win giving up seven hits and allowing one run and striking out five and walking none.
In game two, CNU won 10-0 in six innings.
The Lady Captains scored two runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fifth and four in the sixth.
CNU was led by Sigafoos who went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Slosjarik went 2-for-4 also with a home run and three RBIs. Harrell and Vanessa Gray each went 2-for-3 with a RBI each. Nicole Gray was also 2-for-3.
Vanessa Gray went six innings while walking two and striking out five en route to picking up her 10th win of the season.
