SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLE HEADER FROM NC WESLEYAN

 

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – CNU’s softball team traveled to NC Wesleyan Monday afternoon for a make-up and swept a double header from the Lady Bishops.

In game one, the Lady Captains were victorious 8-2. 

CNU won in extra innings as they scored one run in the eighth and seven runs in the ninth inning.

Michelle Kass was the winning pitcher and picked up her 14th win of the year.

Tammi Perok, Renee Sigafoos and Vanessa Gray each went 2-for-4.  Kass helped herself at the plate by going 2-for-3.

In game two, the Lady Captains won 10-2.

CNU scored three in the first, two in the sixth and five in the seventh inning.

Vanessa Gray was the winning pitcher and is now 11-3-1.

Sigafoos led the offensive attack at the plate going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the first and also had a double.  Jen Harrell was 1-for-3 with a 3-run home run and Gray and Nicole Gray each went 2-for-4.

CNU is now 25-4-1 overall and 10-1 in the Dixie Conference.

The Lady Captains return to action tomorrow at home as they host Chowan at Destany Park with first pitch set for 2:30 pm.
