SOFTBALL TAKES DOUBLEHEADER FROM ELMIRA WITH TWO SHUTOUTS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The softball team swept a doubleheader from Elmira, hurling two-hit shutouts in both games.

In the opener Donna Cerami improved her record to 15-3 with a two-hit shutout in a 7-0 win. She was also 2-2 at the plate with three RBIs. Jennifer Nowacki was 2-3.

In game two freshman Vanessa Gray equaled Cerami’s two-hit shutout and raised her record to 13-3 as CNU prevailed 6-0. Stacey Hundley was 4-4, Jen Harrell 2-4 and Renee Sigafoos 2-4.

CNU is now 28-6 and travels for a make-up doubleheader with Ferrum in Rocky Mount, Va., Tuesday. Elmira is 5-5.
