SOFTBALL DOWNS AVERETT 14-0, SHARES REGULAR SEASON TITLE WITH CHOWAN

TARBORO, NC – CNU’s softball team took on Averett Wednesday evening in a make-up game and defeated the Lady Cougars 14-0 and became Dixie Conference Co-champions with Chowan.

The Lady Captains will be the number two seed in the Dixie Conference Tournament which is set to begin Thursday.

Vanessa Gray pitched all five innings and did not allow a single hit en route to picking up her 13^th win of the season.

CNU busted the game wide open with an 11-run third inning.

Dallas Slosjarik led the offensive attack going 2-for-2. Jen Harrell went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the first inning and Tammi Perok went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.

The Lady Captains are now 27-5-1 overall and 12-2 in the Dixie Conference.

CNU returns to action in the First Round of the Dixie Conference Tournament as they take on seventh seeded NC Wesleyan at 3 pm Thursday afternoon.
