CERAMI THROWS PERFECT GAME AS SOFTBALL SWEEPS FERRUM

  ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – Donna Cerami threw the first seven-inning perfect game in CNU history and had a hand in saving the second game as well as the softball team swept a doubleheader from Ferrum and registered its fifth 30-win season in the last seven years.

  Cerami pitched her gem in the opener as CNU won 5-0. She now has a 16-3 record. Stacey Hundley went 3-4 with a triple and Tammi Perok 2-4 with three RBIs.

  In the second game CNU won 9-3 as Hundley went 3-5 with a double, Vanessa Gray was 2-4 with a home run and Nicole Slosjarik was 3-4 with a double and two triples. Gray was the winning pitcher and now stands at 14-3. She got into a bases loaded jam with one out in one inning, but Cermai came on to get the next two outs without allowing a run. Gray then finished the game.

  CNU is now 30-7 and 9-1 in Dixie Conference play. The Lady Captains host Averett at Captains Field Wednesday in the final Dixie regular season games with a chance to nail down the regular season title.
