SOFTBALL FALLS TO METHODIST 7-1

TARBORO, NC – CNU’s softball team lost to Methodist Saturday morning 7-1 in a winners bracket semifinal contest.

Methodist scored twice in the second and once in each in the third and fourth and exploded for three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Kristin Wallace led the Lady Monarchs going 3-for-4 with a RBI and Lindsay Leitao was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Amy Faucette, Kim McCall, Lisa Strittmatter and Jenny Sorenson added one hit apiece.

For Christopher Newport, Lauren Batson, Dallas Slosjarik, Renee Sigafoos, Vanessa Gray, Andrea Thorson and Rachel Doyle all had one hit each.

Audra Gustafson went 4 2/3 to pick up the win. Tanya Fischer went 2 1/3 innings for the save. Vanessa Gray went 3 innings and took the loss.

The Lady Monarchs improve to 32-8 overall. CNU falls to 28-6-1.

Methodist advances to play Chowan Friday afternoon at 3 pm. The Lady Captains play Greensboro College at 1 pm.
