SOFTBALL FALLS TO METHODIST 3-0
TARBORO, NC – CNU’s softball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Methodist College in the Championship game of the 2003 Dixie Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Wendy Heath's single in the fourth inning plated another MC run and they now lead 3-0. Emily Minton tripled for Methodist and later scored on a wild pitch to extend Methodist's lead to 2-0 in the second inning. In the first inning, a sacrifce fly by Kim McCall has given Methodist a 1-0 lead. Kristen Wallace, Lindsay Leitao, Minton and Heath each had one hit for the Lady Monarchs. For the Lady Captains, Renee Sigafoos went 2-for-3 and Andrea Thorson and Nicole Gray each had one hit apiece.
Tanya Fischer went 5 1/3 innings allowing two hits for the win. Jennifer Sorenson pitched the seventh inning to pick up the save.
Michelle Kass pitched a complete game allowing four hits, three runs, no walks and two strikeouts.
CNU falls to 31-7-1 and Methodist is now 34-8.
Methodist earns the Dixie's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
