CERAMI PITCHES NO-HITTER AS SOFTBALL WINS DIXIE TOURNAMENT OPENER OVER AVERETT, 4-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Donna Cerami pitched her third no-hitter of the season as the softball team opened Dixie Conference Tournament play with a 4-0 win over Averett.

The Lady Captains will get to rest until 9 a.m. Sunday morning when they will meet the winner of a game later Saturday between N.C. Wesleyan and Methodist. If CNU wins it advances into the final round.

Cerami struck out five in her latest gem, improving her record to 18-3.\

CNU took a 1-0 lead in the first when Stacey Hundley scored on a sacrifice by by Jennifer Nowacki.

In the third Jen Harrell hit a solo home run to lift the Margin to 2-0, and then Renee Sigafoos blasted a two-run homer in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Hundley was 2-3 and NicoleSlosjarik 2-3.

CNU is now 33-7 for the year.
