SOFTBALL FALLS TO METHODIST 5-3 IN SEMIFINALS OF DIXIE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

TARBORO, NC – CNU’s softball squad lost to Methodist Sunday 5-3 in 10 innings in the semifinals of the Dixie Conference Tournament.

Methodist jumped ahead 3-0 with single runs in the first three innings. The Lady Captains cut the margin

to one on a two-run home run by Rachel Doyle.

The score stayed 3-2 until the seventh inning. Methodist had two outs before CNU started a rally.

Lady Monarch pitcher Tanya Fischer allowed a single that scored Doyle, who had walked for the tying run.

Stacey Hundley was 2-4 and Nicole Gray went 2-4. Doyle went 1-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jennifer Nowacki and Hundley both made the Dixie All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Captains are now 33-11.
