SOFTBALL FALLS TO ROANOKE, 1-0, IN NCAA REGIONAL FIRST GAME
SALEM, Va. – The softball team dropped a tough, 1-0, decision to host Roanoke in its first game at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Friday afternoon.
CNU’s Donna Cerami and Roanoke’s Amy Layman locked in a classic pitcher’s duel until the Maroons pushed across a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Both pitchers allowed five hits in the game.
The Lady Captains had several chances to score. They had runners on second and third with one out in the fourth, and then runners on second base with one out in the fifth, sixth and seventh, but were unable to score.
CNU now plays Muhlenberg (Pa.), which lost to York (Pa.), 3-2 in eight innings in the day’s first game, at 5:30 Friday evening.
